Ask the Staff

"As the school year gets started, what have been some of the highlights for you?"

Teah Lane
Middle School Math Teacher

How respectful and eager to learn the majority of the middle schoolers are. It has been a joy to interact with them as they discover new math concepts, participate in class, ask questions, share their ideas, and grow in their understanding.

Kasana Anderson
4th Grade Teacher

Watching 4th grade students learn how to find a book, chapter and verse in the Bible. When some students got stuck finding the correct book, others immediately stood up and went over to help so that everyone could read the verse together.

Tim Bemenderfer
Intervention Specialist

Watching Pre-K3 make the adjustment to their new school environment!

Abby Harlan
3rd Grade Teacher

Getting to meet all of my students and see them be excited about learning.

Twyla Grozenski
Kindergarten Teacher

The first weeks of kindergarten have been great.
Transitions for the family and the new school year are going well.
First time teaching kindergarten and first time in a staff this big, enjoying the team mindset.

Laura Stanley
3rd Grade Teacher

I have a new student from New York.  The differences between what he was used to and what he was experiencing here at Doulos were dramatic. I am praising God that it did not take him long to realize that some of the differences were good.  He now loves coming to school and has several adults he likes to check in with every morning.

Amber De Armas
 Operations Director

Many of the systems I put into place last year were easily launched this year with little to no updating needed! Example: Maintenance requests have been/are continuing to be handled within the Maintenance Department without me being involved! The work I put in last year is paying off this year already!

Mandy Langenfeld
Staff Care

It's always so beautiful to see how new staff are welcomed and brought into the Doulos Family. I have loved watching them get settled into their roles, make friends on campus, and already begin to make a difference in the students' lives.

The largest number of sponsorships in Doulos history!

God is using Doulos to raise up Dominican leaders from a variety of economic backgrounds. This year, we are excited to report that we have the largest number of students in our sponsorship program that we have had in the history of Doulos. This means that MORE students are getting a life-shaping education that they would not otherwise have access to.

This also means that there is a big opportunity for all of us to join in and make a lasting difference in a student's life.

Please join us in praying for...

Little Hearts - As we welcomed our largest class of Pre-K students, a handful of them had a tough time with the transition. It was beautiful to see the teachers lovingly handle the kids and guide the parents. Please pray for our students' hearts as they adapt to this new season.

Teenage-Sized Hearts - This year is off to a noticeably positive start. Students seem genuinely glad to be back and the tone on campus is really healthy. Please keep our middle school and high schoolers covered in prayer. We see God at work. Let's keep pressing in!

New Staff - As we transition from August into September, the excitement of the new year and a new role naturally starts to fade. Please pray especially for our new staff as they continue to step into the important work they're doing.

Executive Director - Pray for the Board of Directors as they continue to look for our next Executive Director.
