“Educating and equipping servant leaders through Christian discipleship and expeditionary learning to impact the Dominican Republic”
- Educate and Equip: Doulos Discovery School empowers students with a high quality, college readiness program that cultivates both preparedness for and perspective on college. Our desire is for students to be academically, socially, and spiritually equipped for higher education at an institution of their choosing.
- Servant Leaders: As we educate and equip the future generation of Dominican leaders, we place a strong emphasis on leadership through service. Our desire is that our students yield their lives in worship to God, which leads to serving Him and others. At Doulos we lead using our power, authority, and influence to love and serve others because Jesus first loved and served us. Our leadership humbly guides self and others toward becoming more like Jesus Christ and places the interests of others above our own interests.
“For the even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
- Christian Discipleship: Doulos is dedicated to Christian discipleship. We strive to disciple students as they learn to align their thoughts and actions with those of Jesus Christ, learning to follow Him as his disciples. We seek to exalt Christ at every turn, teaching students how to be His disciples in every aspect of life, including the academic subjects. In those academic classes, we seek to be a Biblically Integrated school, holding fast to God’s word and teaching each class from the perspective that God is the foundation for all truth, and that anything we can study in His creation can only be well known if we know our Creator well.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
- Impact the Dominican Republic: At Doulos Discovery School we empower students to become the future revolutionary leaders of the Dominican Republic. Revolutionary leaders are transformed by God and set apart from the world in how they think, what they do and how they live. Our desire is to see students complete their post high school education internationally and then return to the Dominican Republic to take on revolutionary roles in the leadership of the country.
Doulos is dedicated to Christian discipleship and learning to live out of a heart, mind and soul completely devoted to our Triune God. We seek to exalt Christ at every turn, teaching students how to be His disciples in every aspect of life, including the academic subjects.
We believe that children learn best by doing. Therefore, we are committed to using inquiry based instructional methods in all grades, preschool through high school. We inspire our students to be engaged and self-motivated learners by fostering students’ learning through fieldwork, experts, meaningful concepts, product creation, and service.
Doulos’ college readiness program cultivates both preparedness for and perspective on college. Our desire is for students to be academically, socially, and spiritually equipped for higher education at an institution of their choosing. Moreover, we desire our students to view higher education as a tool to equip them for their calling. Doulos graduates see higher education as an opportunity to develop their general calling as disciples of Christ as well as the specific vocation that God has called them into.
Mixed Economic Student Body
We believe that leaders come from all socioeconomic backgrounds. In a country where people are often isolated from one another based on income level, we attempt to bridge the gap by educating students of mixed financial backgrounds together to build lasting relationships. This is seen reflected in student enrollment, as we reserve half of our enrollment for full tuition-paying students and the other half for Christian families that prepare their children spiritually but are not able to financially provide for their academic needs.
Doulos is located in the Dominican Republic and serves the Dominican population of our community in Jarabacoa. As a Dominican school, we seek to honor local traditions, engage local leadership, and prepare our students to lead and impact within the Dominican Republic. Our school mascot is “the revolutionary,” because our desire is to see our students complete their post high school education and deeply invest in the Dominican Republic, taking on revolutionary roles in the leadership of the country.
