We believe that God is the author of everything around us, so we are actively teaching students to see His fingerprints in everything that we learn and do. Lesson plans and expeditions have been thoughtfully crafted so that students are learning through the lense of a Christian worldview.
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
In order to build a culture of Christ-like community on campus, we set aside time every week for our primary and secondary schools to have chapel altogether. This is a time for corporate worship and hearing a message given by our Bible teacher. For our secondary school, we provide an extra 30 minutes after chapel where our young men and women split up to go deeper into the message with a staff mentor.
Once a month on Friday afternoons, our entire campus comes together for what we call “a party with a purpose”. A time for games, skits, meaningful moments with our school director reenforcing our code of character and ending with a recognition ceremony of one student from each grade who demonstrated our code of character that month.
“We serve because HE first served us.”
This is a central piece to who we are at Doulos. We ask our students to look out for people other than themselves who need help (older student helping a younger student, a class going to another school to teach them something they have taught, doing a class fundraiser to raise funds for a local church, etc) This is what service looks like here at Doulos, “…raising servant leaders to impact the Dominican Republic.”
